Checks and professional boundaries
Paul Fong holds an enhanced DBS certificate and subscribes to the DBS Update Service. Evidence can be shared privately on request; certificate details are not published. Tuition is conducted within professional teaching boundaries.
Parents and communication
Bookings for students under 18 are arranged with a parent or carer. Parents and carers are included in all student communications. Personal social-media messaging is not used for tuition. Necessary safeguarding information is handled separately where sharing it with a parent could increase risk.
Online sessions
Sessions use Microsoft 365 with meeting links shared only with the intended participants. Students should work in an appropriate shared study space, with a parent or carer nearby and available. Parents are welcome to observe. Lessons are not recorded. Parents and carers remain responsible for supervision at home; this does not remove the tutor’s own safeguarding responsibilities.
Responding to concerns
Concerns are taken seriously, recorded factually and securely, and referred promptly to the appropriate children’s services or police when needed. If a student discloses harm, they are listened to calmly, without leading questions or promises of secrecy. The tutor does not investigate allegations. Parents are informed where appropriate, unless doing so could increase risk or interfere with protective action.
How to raise a concern
Contact Paul at hello@stemcoach.uk for concerns about a session or a student’s welfare. For immediate danger, call 999. For advice, contact the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000 or report a concern to the NSPCC. Concerns about Paul can be raised directly with local authority children’s services or, in England, the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO), without contacting Paul first. In other UK nations, contact the relevant local child-protection service.
Working in schools
During consultancy visits, the school’s visitor arrangements and safeguarding procedures are followed. Concerns are reported promptly to its Designated Safeguarding Lead, alongside a direct referral where necessary. Identifiable pupil information is accessed only where necessary and appropriately agreed.
Review
These arrangements are reviewed when practice or relevant guidance changes. Families can ask about safeguarding before booking.
